oh christmas tree

winter is our favorite season. and christmas is our favorite holiday. today we helped pick out grandma's christmas tree. christmas pines always make me smile. when we were sophomores in high school my parents bought a fake christmas tree. i told a group of friends how sad it made me that our home no longer smelled like christmas trees. gabe overheard the lament, and later that week i came home to a two foot christmas pine in my room and a note from gabriel. i remember walking in the door from a dance rehearsal and my sister saying 'some boy put something in your room.' once i saw the tree and note, i couldn't stop myself from smelling and smiling all evening long. it was the kindest christmas present anyone had given me.
